My mind has become ossified of late. So this is a return to the basics.

It is snowing outside. I sit in a house in a Boston suburb and watch TV, lots of it. Sometime during my last five years of TV-free existence a shift has occurred: now I want to watch almost nothing but Law and Order, a show that used to bore me to death. I do find Frasier entertaining, though.

The cat comes in from the outside, jumping through the flap door. He climbs into my lap. He is wet and dirty. My clothes are now covered with paw marks and he’s wnterdferijng with myb tyyoping. No matter. He’s licking his ass.

It is snowing outside.
